Vendor notes Using Anzio Lite with DataQuick
Introduction
Anzio Lite, a software program from Rasmussen Software, is recommended by Dataquick to access their database over the Internet through the "telnet" protocol. We are providing these instructions to augment those of Dataquick. Please check the DataQuick web site for more up-to-date information and direct all support questions to the DataQuick help desk.
Thing to note:
First thing to note. Rasmussen Software does not support the DataQuick site nor their software, we are not their support personnel and all questions pertaining to the use of DataQuick or to connecting to their site should be directed at their support center. DataQuick Online is a remote host database available for access over the Internet with a telnet client product such Anzio Lite. Telnet is nothing more than terminal emulation over your existing Internet connection and that is where Anzio Lite comes in.
Second, we are the developers of Anzio Lite and hence the most recent version of Anzio Lite is always available at our web site, not theirs. If you download the older copy of Anzio Lite from the DataQuick web site, it may not work properly with later versions of Windows.
The software at the DataQuick site is most often out of date and you should not rely on it for accuracy. Also note that you should always use the latest version to prevent any security problems that may have been fixed.
Third, Anzio Lite is not "freeware" but rather can be evaluated for a 60-day period before a license must be purchased either direct from us or through one of our resellers.
Those items being mentioned, Anzio Lite does work well as a terminal emulation program for use with the DataQuick Online information database. It is simple to use and easy to set up.
Step-by-step
- Download the Anzio Lite software from our web site Download area
http://www.anzio.com/download.htm
- Once you have the software downloaded, run the installation program (you may have included doing this as part of step 1 if you selected "Open" during the download process. Select all defaults by simply pressing Next until it is finished.
- Log into your ISP as you normally would. This establishes a network connection with the Internet. You may have to bring up your browser in order to do this.
- Minimize any Internet software you brought up (such as your browser).
- Double click on the Anzio Lite icon on your desktop.
-
The first time you run through this it will ask for the terminal type. Select either vt100 or vt220.
If you are running the evaluation copy of Anzio Lite, the next screen will be the countdown opening splash screen. Go ahead and wait for it to get done with the countdown (this will go away once you register the software and enter a license number).
-
Next the Communications Setup screen will appear. Anzio Lite needs to be set for a Telnet connection to communicate with Dataquick. Ignore all other options except for the host name.
Select "Telnet" and enter the host name of "online.dataquick.com" and press OK.
- Provided there are no problems with your access to the Internet, and no security issues to deal with, such as a personal firewall or a firewall at your ISP, then you should receive the initial login screen for Dataquick. From here on, refer to the Dataquick documentation at http://www.dataquick.com/online/.
Optional Setting
One additional item may make it easier to launch Anzio Lite from the DataQuick web site. You can access DataQuick direct from their web site by clicking on the "Click here to access your account via Telnet" link. However to do this, you need to register Anzio Lite as the default telnet helper application for Windows.
Under the Help menu in Anzio Lite, the item "Set as default telnet..." is a dialog for setting Anzio Lite up as the default telnet helper application for Windows.
Conclusion
Rasmussen Software Inc. is the provider of Anzio Lite and is not the support group for DataQuick. We may be able to aide in setting up Anzio Lite, but we are not familiar at all with DataQuick. Please contact their Help Desk for any technical support. |
